Grogans Bluff, located in north Sandy Springs, features 156 custom homes situated among towering trees and rolling hills that connect to the beauty of the Chattahoochee River. Built between 1984 and 1987, the 126-acre development is named after the Grogan family — a pioneer Atlanta family who operated a ferry service across the Chattahoochee River. The property was developed by the Chicago based AMLI Realty Corporation. The company purchased the property from Billy Orkin, son of the founder of the Orkin Pest Control chain, now owned by Rollins, Inc. The tract includes 100 acres along Bull Sluice Lake, a tributary of the Chattahoochee River, and was built around the natural landscape to protect the property, which is heavily wooded and somewhat hilly. Tall beautiful trees such as oak, river beech, dogwood and mountain laurels were left intact during the construction of the property.
