Check your washing machine’s drain hose for clogs.
Washing machines aren’t supposed to smell like dirty gym socks, and if they do you could have a problem. Your washing machine’s drain hose and pump can become clogged with lint, coins, jewelry and other objects. These obstructions can prevent the machine from draining properly and allow water to remain in the appliance after the wash cycle is complete. Water that is not drained will cause foul, unpleasant odors. Repairing a clogged or kinked drain hose can be a quick fix, but if drainage problems persist, contact an appliance expert.
Use the Clean Cycle or use a Washing Machine Cleaner
If you don’t keep the door open when it’s not in use, the front loading washers can grow mold or mildew. Using the machine washing cycle, or using a cleaner, such as Affresh, can keep that smell away.
