Clean out the refrigerator.
Putting the groceries away should not be like playing a game of Tetris. If it is, then it’s time to clean out your refrigerator and give you and your food some additional space. Holding onto old food is not only weird, it can be dangerous. Foods have expiration dates for a reason, and eating perishables that are past their prime can make you very ill. The U.S. Centers for Disease Control estimate 48 million, or 1 in 6 Americans, annually contract a foodborne illness. While you’re cleaning out your fridge, make sure to clean your drain pan to remove any gunk or bacteria that may be living there.
Cut back vegetation from the side of the house.
Vegetation should have a ‘look but don’t touch’ policy with the house. Overgrown vegetation is bad for curb appeal, and it can also cause problems for your home. For instance, bushes that touch the side of your house can direct ants and other insects to vulnerable entry points. Other vegetation like vines can also deteriorate your home’s exterior by damaging siding or masonry work. As a good rule of thumb, all vines should be removed from the side of your house, and shrubbery should be kept trimmed at least 12 inches away from your home.
